bit help please

i am going to be hunting my 17hh id x tb (bigman)

and he is in hanging snaffle at minute - he is strong but bearable in the snaffle - but out galloping on fields with friends he takes a long time to pull up - went to tack shop they advised 3-ring gag - he objected is there anything else i could try which wont be too strong but will be able to hold him with all those horses

What noseband is he wearing???Sometimes something as simple as that rather than bit change could do the trick

generally when galloping they tend to cross their jaws when you pull up,have you tried a grackle??
