My horse makes a weird grunting noise like a pig when she's being ridden. she also chucks her head up if i try to hault, even if it's the very very slightest pull on the reins. I think the grunting noise might be caused by her moving her tounge behind or away from the bit. She is currently ridden in an eggbutt snaffle. Is there a bit that might stop these problems? Also i havn't had her long so i'm not sure when she last had her teeth done, could her teeth be causing this?

I would get her teeth looked at first, my mare used to throw her head up when I halted too and once having her teeth looked at and sorted she never throws her head about

switch from the nutcracker action of the eggbutt to something like a french link or that has a lozenge in it which will prevent the bit pinching the tongue and the bars of the mouth. the head chucking may be to avoid the pinching but i would also get her teeth checked.
