Hello!! :)
Just wondering if anyone can help me decid eon some bits to try with my new horse.
He's a lovely boy, but not quite happy in his current bit imo. He came in a happy mouth eggbutt snaffle (personally not a fan of happy mouths) Tried him in the same bit but a metal one, still think it doesn't quite suit him.

He's not strong in the sence he nicks off but I could do with better brakes when in trot/canter etc.

Idea's?

I had a Welshie who could be quite forward going and found that he was extremely manageable in a Sprenger KK Ultra. I found with the Eggbutt that he lent on it and went like a train ... :)

Yeah try a french link or a roller and maybe try the metal sweet iron rather than the happy mouth, one of mine came with a happy mouth and I didn't like it, changed it to a sweet iron just on the off chance nand it was like a completely different horse.

Thank you everyone! I was looking at the kk ultra bit, thought maybe some sort of myler? Just a bit stuck becaus ei've had him a week and a half so don't totally know him yet :)
Got a few options here to think about though!

I'm a big fan of Neue Schule or sweet iron on a budget. I also prefer bits with a lozenge but its a very individual thing, its what I feel my pony is most comfortable in...all a bit trial and error I'm afraid! Maybe for a little more than a snaffle a hanging cheek? If you were closer I would offer for you to borrow a few from my growing collection, it can get a smidge pricey buying diff bits to try unless you use a bit bank.
