sorry another one but could do with every ones opinions

what bit would you use on a 15.1 irish bred really quite chunky mare that tends to get strong when excited but also leans on the bit but over bends occasionally she has previously been ridden in an eggbutt snaffle but changed to a french link to try and stop the leaning this has helped but now the brakes are not very good. shes ridden daily and worked fairly hard. she can go really nicley in this bit but when shes wound up it becomes very difficult

thanx

You could try a waterford, then she has nothing to lean on. You can get them with different cheeks so you can pick the one with the right amount of braking power!

I had the same problem except for the over bending. I changed to a Waterford loose ring and he still managed to lean on it after a while !!!!

I am now using a english tom thumb with lozenge mouth piece and 2 reins. It is brill at breaks and if they lean on the snaffle rein, a little light fiddle with the lower shank picks them up.
