a friend started my then 5 yr old earlier (did a fab job) this yr, she had her in a flash noseband and a hanging cheek french link, i have no issues with the bit and tack she used.
the mare had her teeth done about a month ago and had 2 large wolf teeth removed, i have since changed her bit to a sweet iron (tried happy mouth in the past she hated it) loose ring snaffle with a lozenge and have just started riding without the flash strap. my mare seems much softer in her mouth and seems to really like the sweet iron.

in the hanging cheek and flash she used to gets rubs around the outside of her mouth but she had bit rubbers, she was only being ridden a couple of times a week for 20 mins or so so they were never an issue really.

in the loose ring she has had rubs so i have removed bit rubbers and today she still has them, i have doubled checked the bit is wide enough and the right height in her mouth. she is quite fleshy around her mouth is there anything else i can try?

i was thinking i may have to try an eggbut and see if it stopped the rubs, its a pain cos she really likes what she is in

Had a similar problem with mine and the ns eggbutt with a lozenge fixed it :) they aren't cheap but worth every penny as the material they're made from is great and is in my opinion even nicer for the horse than sweet iron

I stand to be corrected but I believe a bitless bridle is still legal for BS. If you are thinking about BD then I don't think the ns is legal for that either, but it is a bit of a grey area and tbh I don't know anyone who has actually contacted BD directly about it. If you haven't tried a french-link eggbutt then it might be worth a go as it might sit better in her mouth.
