What do the bit keepers on a full cheek snaffle do? I notice that some people use them and some don't so could someone please enlighen me.

Help to stabalise the bit in the mouth I think. Also helpful to keep the full cheeks still so they don't get caught under the noseband or something silly like that.

Bit keepers prevent the cheeks from getting caught on anything and they also stabilise the bit.

It also applies a slight downward pressure on the poll which is one of the 7 points of pressure on the horses head, Oz
