Well that was an long day! lol
Nice times meant a relativly late start, made good time till we had a disagreement with the sat nav and missed the turning, but got there in time.
Warmed up for the dressage and the flys were awful, Blaze hated them and used it as a great excuse to start snatching again. Wasnt much I could do and we went in and did an ok test, with some really nice bits and some not so nice bits. For the first time I think they actually marked him fairly and he got a 35
Then had a long wait till the showjumping so walked the XC, thought it looked very nice and straightforward, a few questions but nothing Blaze couldnt cope with.
Warmed up for the showjumping terrified that I was going to mess it up again, but didnt miss at a single fence, so went in feeling a bit better. Jumped round like a superstar, got a few long shots but I didnt miss and he really pinged, just had one down where he just didnt really pick his back legs up enough but couldnt have been happier! (in fact much happier with that round than last weeks clear round at Sollihul)
Onto the fun bit....
Blaze was very excited about going XC and got in the start box and decided it was more fun to stand on his back legs than actually leave the startbox...one quick tap and he shot out and jumped the first like it was 4ft (silly pony
) the next 3 he jumped in a similar fashion and felt amazing! Then over no. 5 and to the rails at 6 which he angled nicely for me. No 7 was fairly decent and was followed by a steep slope down to a treble consisting of a rolltop and 2 logs on a slight curve.
Set him up and he jumped the first two fine but did an enormous leap over the 3rd, He kept his head up and I over folded resulting in a rather large bang on the chin, after that I am afraid I sat a bit like a lemon and tried to work out why I couldnt hear anything. Blaze did the next few fences by himself (pretty impressive as they included the turn to the steps and a fence on a curve afterwards
) and then after jumping the ditch and palisade I got myself together again in time for the double of skinnies which he was prefect over. Then down into the water which Blaze insisted on galloping at before suddenly seeing the water and coming back to a walk...he went in ok though and popped out sweetly and on to another skinnie before jumping the last.
At this point I quickly dismounted and realised the reason I hadnt been able to concentrate as my head was spinning rather quickly and my jaw felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat...
Finished with 2.4 time which I am going to blame on the water and the rear in the start box and not my lack of riding after the bang on the head
They wanted me to go straight to the medics but took Blaze back and washed him off first before Twigs tok me back to the ambulance. After spending the best part of an hour there they let me go, insisted that I went for an xray later, and told me not to get p*ssed or sneeze or yawn
Checked the scores and finished 0.4 off a place on 11th so was really chuffed
Then managed to drive the 3 hours back to Snuffolk and put Blaze to bed. Had kind of decided to go for an xray the next day until I sneezed and nearly blacked out
so set of for A&E....3 hours later and I decided to come home, go to bed and try again today!
Thanks for reading, sorry it was a bit long! Thanks to Twigs for coming and keeping me sane, and DrSunflower and DrWeevil for coming it was lovely to see you again
Edited to add - I apoligise for any spelling mistakes, by brain isnt quite working yet, and could someone please tell me how you are supposed to stop yourself yawning when you have had 4 hours sleep?! It hurts
