After a lot of thinking and a lot of back-tracking, I have decided to put Murphy up for sale.

Despite my best efforts it would seem like life has conspired against me, and what with my impending redundancy and other financial worries, I have to concerntrate on other areas of my life, which means Murph is taking a back seat and while this would be OK were it only for a short time, I cannot guarentee that I'll get a new job as quickly as I need to, and that means not only compromising on Murph money wise - but time wise also. Which Im not prepared to do.

He's a lovely, sweet horse who craves attention and deserves to be someone's number one priority. And I feel this is the last thing I can do to ensure he remains MY number one priority - at least until he finds a new home.

I was trying to get him out on loan, but tbh money situations are forcing my hand.

I hope I will find a lovely home for him - he's just a big loveable bear who asks for little, and gives everything.

I wish there was, but I have a few things that need money now and bless heart, Murph is the only thing I have worth anything lol
He is a lovely geunine boy but I am hopeful I'll find him a lovely home with someone who'll give him everything and I could rest easy then!

I'm sorry to hear your news, lets hope you find a job quickly. An internet site worked really well for my (jobsite), I down-loaded my c.v and applied for loads of jobs, just so that agencies could pick up my c.v. This happened, it was'nt for a job I had applied for, plus I got a load of interviews.

so sorry hun, i know how much you love him

Just a thought and too late for this year, but I was made redundant and was panicking about what to do with three horses and one about to come back to me from a loan home. We did manage and I did get another job, but one of the things I did was loan one of the horses to a university as a school horse and it has worked out really well. Fortunately, my partner works at the university in question -it was him who suggested it- so we could keep an eye on him, but we needn't have worried. The horse loves it, he has company, regular not too taxing work, turn-out etc and because everything is done by the book, we know he's looked after. It costs me nothing except vaccinations and you can either have them home for the holidays (which they prefer) or you can pay for then to stay at the university. I rented a field at ten pounds per horse per week for the summer and turned him out there. I also ended up working part time at the university, so I could go and see him and as the owner, you can ride them if they're not doing anything else, using the university's facilities. You usually have to agree to a minimum period, say an academic year.

Obviously it won't work for all horses and they do have be safe rides, although some quirks are acceptable, but if it works well, it could be a solution for people who are finding it hard to manage where their circumstances suddenly change. You could just put them there for say, one year and then see if things get better for you after that so that you can have them back. I thought there was no option but to sell, which I would have hated, as the horse is 15 and I've had him since he was 3, but this proved a good solution all round.

Aw!! Bossy's gonna lose his best mate!!! They are so funny in the field together!!

I'm sorry I didnt realise that woman was looking at him this morning, there was me just having a chat!!! I was listening from my stable, and had to laugh at the shoeing comments... you CAN have a horse vetted with 2 shoes on!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, let me know how that went...

Lx

She seemed really nice and to be honest I would happily put shoes on him if I had the spare cash, but if I did I wouldn't be selling him anyway lol
I will get the low-down from Lorraine when i see her as they seem to have history, want to make sure that Murph has the best home possible.
Xx
