If your horse is on full livery you expect them to be looked after properly don't you? I know this is busy time of year and sometimes livery yards can be short staffed but it isn't too much to ask that your horse's feet are picked out every day?!
OH has been away for couple of days and has just been up to check his beloved horse & found that not only were Marco's feet not picked out (NB he has just had a bad case of thrush so his feet should be picked out and checked carefully every day) but he also had a nail sticking into his frog

, and is lame as a result!
Apologies for mini rant; am feeling fed up today.

I actually didn't know that when on Full Livery, picking out a horses feet was part of the deal.
(Im being genuine btw - all my horses are on rented grazing, one on DIY at a yard).

Hope he's ok soon.

From reading previous posts on here, our Full Livery isn't as full as some others but definitely covers picking out feet! It is just especially annoying as he was quite lame with the thrush so we spent a lot of time scrubbing his feet & stressing the importance of keeping them clean - yet twice in the last week his feet haven't even been picked out.

I cant understand how there can be a full livery that doesnt include picking out feet given that picking out should happen every time they are turned out/brought in.....Id rather not have mine fed than their feet neglected.

I would be MAD!

Basic horse care I would say if your on full livery, I would definately expect it to be done every day if I was paying what was advertised as "full" livery, if you have just a basic car service they check the tyres, sounds like cant be arsed attitude to me.

have you spoke to the YO about it, a nail in the frog can be so bad, when i worked on in my aunts livery we picked out the horses feet before they was turned out and when the came in. if you horse is lame from the nail i think the vet should check it to see how far it went in, just to be on the safe side.

I don't think I've ever been on a yard where feet were picked out as part of the full livery service. My horse is unshod so prob less of a risk of someting happening though which is a bit of a relief.
