After a few years of using solar panel/ battery/led floodlight to light our stables, we now have mains electricity! Although the pole was only about 15metres from the stables, it was on our neighbors side of the hedge. We were quoted £2000 for a supply. However, the pole had to be changed, and the ice men put it on our side of the hedge! We told the leccie board to move it, or give us a discount on a new supply. New quote, £600! As it was a stable, I was able to wire it myself (no part p!), so now plenty of light, kettle and radio! One happy bunny.

that's great, how nice to see a happy post! Enjoy your radio and cups of tea and coffee. I can't imagine how miserable winter would be without light, very pleased for you! And no, you are not gloating!

Sorry, should have been 'nice men'!

That's lovely. I got mains electric eventually to stables, and after head torches, lanterns and vehicle headlamps, or working in the dark for years, I can still remember the absolute bliss of switching on the light! And a radio too. Enjoy it all.

Sounds like heaven! I've got a lovely new yard, with all the lights and sockets installed, but no actual power yet - it's only been about 6 months! Hoping it'll be done before winter. We've also got a loo in the tackroom, and all the relevant pipes and holes to fix it to - but it's still sitting in the corner, acting as a spider grandstand!
