I was selling an english leather Close Contact jump saddle on eBay last week and I was really really disappointed at the price it was making so decided to remove the listing. I paid a lot for this saddle in October and I could count on both hands the times I have used it.

It is in a popular size/width and in great cond. so why on earth was it only making £150???

It gets my goat, I cannot lose this much money on it, where should I advertise? Would you suggest putting it back on ebay with a buy it now price? Trouble is, it charges even if it doesnt sell :( Im going to cry!! Poor pone needs a new jump saddle ASAP!

Most people don't bid on Ebay until the last few seconds so something may show at a low price for 7 days and then rocket at the end. If you are worried about letting iot go for less than you want put a reserve on it although that may discourage people from bidding. If you have it ending late evening and describe it well with plenty of photos it should sell for what it is worth

Hi, my main issue with buying addles off ebay is that the may not fit. I only buy cheaper ones so that if they dont fit then it isnt such an issue or outlay. Is there a local sadlery or fitter that might take it in PX or sell on for you on commision. I have sold a couple of decent saddles that way although not very quickly they at least acheived what they were worth. Good luck

Thanks for the replies, I am reluctant to take it to a saddler as I will lose much more that way I think. FW did you only have to list it once? Might put it back it on there today then
Thanks :)

Yep I did. I put a start price of £550 and it sold for £600.
I had asked saddles direct first how much it was worth and they said I would be lucky to get between 550 and 650 for it privately. It cost double that so £550 was the minimum I was prepared to accept and I was also prepared for the fact I may have to list it quite a few times.
Luckily it sold to someone in the US straight away :).

What size is it, out of interest? I'm looking at the moment, but I can't find anything :(

Trying to find a saddle without cair/flair seems enough of a challenge :p

It is wool flock ;)

Dont want to get another slap from TFC but its a 17 (poss 17.5 will have to double check) and med fit. Was on a Irish TB with relatively high withers but has also fitted a clevelandxfreisan and my WB! So I would say pretty versatile!
