On New Year's Eve my lab girl aged 8 was cleaning her feet and suddenly screamed ( only way to describe it). She rushed over to me and trembled for about 5 minutes, obviously upset. OH suggested she had bitten her foot by mistake.

later that evening she screamed again, this time just standing still, same behaviour as before, she was very upset and trembling.

I did decide to see what happened overnight and if she did it again then she would go to the vets.

Nothing since, she has had no different food or change in her routine. obviously pain related but no idea where to start looking.

waste of time taking her to the vet, I feel, as no symptoms.

She is being carefully watched for any more attacks and will go straight to the vets if so.

Ideas? Anyone?

Thank you for your suggestion, I had checked feet but had another look with a magnifying glass, nothing to see. I would have thought would have shown up more longer term.

Split nail, or maybe something stuck up between the toes - could be hard to see if it's something like a tiny bit of glass or thorn stuck quite far up. I know from having things stuck in my own feet that it does not necessarily cause constant pain.

I wonder if at her age it may be the beginnings of arthritis/other joint pain. This is how it started with our dog.

If you do a search on here you will find lots of people have had success with various different supplements - may be worth a try.
