Bit of a nasty fall today

Had a bit of a shake up today - my TB has been in intermittent work for the last few months - we've finally got the lameness sorted so after a Christmas break I was really excited to get back on and start getting him fit for a season of eventing.
He was lunged a few times and I sat on him for the first time yesterday, just pottering around and he was great. Went to do the same thing today, and although I did get him to stretch and relax he was very het up and spooky (it was blowing a gale to be fair) and eventually started broncing. I thought I'd sat it out until he put in his speciality evil twist and i came off - getting a lovely double barrelled kicking on the way down.
The delightful creature then took off across the yard (with me and OH in hot pursuit!), but slipped over and came down on concrete.
So now I have a bruised and battered (and very sheepish) horse - they're only superficial cuts which have been cleaned etc, but one of his knees has started to swell so he's bandaged with some bute tonight, and the physio is coming in the next few days to check he hasn't hurt himself.
Not much point to this post really, just wanted some sympathy I suppose! I am a bit concerned that I'll be nervous when I go to get on him next - I'm normally pretty confident but this is only the third time we've parted company and it was definitely the most spectacular! So any advice on how to man up and just get on with it much appreciated.

Leftover McDonalds on offer for patiently reading my woes (OHs idea to cheer me up!)

Poor you. Falling off is never nice, but horrible to see your horse fall as well!

I hope he hasn't done himself any damage and that you're not too sore tomorrow.

Maybe next time you get on him could you take him somewhere like an indoor school? (not always practical i know) at least you won't have to worry about weather/spooks etc

Oh goodness that sounds no fun and then some! All my sympathy to the pair of you. Hope you're both okay. Good luck for the next time you get on x

Ouch!

I think you can put this down to the weather today. Can you ride in an arena next time? Double benefit of a soft surface and an enclosed space so that he can't get onto the concrete.

I hope there's no lasting damage to either of you!

Thanks for sympathy all! Feeling a bit pathetic :(
I was riding in the outdoor arena but the 'fence' is only about a foot tall so didn't pose much of a problem!
Will plan to ride in the indoor next time :)

Ouch! Hope you and he are both ok, sounds scary but the wind has been awful here today, blowy with spectacular gusts, any horse would've got a bit freaked so put it down to that and crack on xx
