*Bit of a rant* Unpleasant girls at yard!

People like this usually only continue because people allow them to.
My technique is to pleasantly but openly confront their behaviour.
Eg say " oh there you two go , bitching again ! " and SMILE .
Puts them on the back foot and makes them look , and feel , small.

I think this is such a good way to approach the situation. Make them feel really small!!!

*Update*

Well, I can't believe it!!

The 2 unpleasant ones have bought the mare between them (for a ridiculously low price might I add)

Oh, that could end well! :D

Wait, what's that? Is it a big dose of Karma on the way?

Sit it out, OP, it could get interesting. People like that very rarely manage to work well in a partnership, so who is going to get the money when they sell the horse? I bet they will eventually and I doubt the proceeds will be split fairly.

i've experienced a lot of this before now. the best thing to do is ignore them, and if that doesnt work then confront them together. always remember they are only brave when they are doing it to someone else but if you stand up to them they'll stop! xx

Ah I hate that :( there were people on a yard that I was at a lot of years ago that used to do that to me , sit and watch me ride etc they'd even turn up at shows and lessons it was really intimidating and left me not wanting to ride at all
We have two idiots on our yard where I am now that are trying to bully one poor girl out of her stable as they want there friend to have it :(
They have been throwing buckets of water in her stable and going in and hitting her horse !

Have you informed the YO! For me this would be a "they go or I do" situation. I could not keep my horse at a yard where there were people who were capable of walking into a stable and hitting a horse, what if they decided to do it to mine!

Well, I hope if you have seen that happening, that you have done something about it. I would have to ask what they thought they were doing and inform YO.

^^this. or call them on it-publicly ask them where their mounts are if they go to watch without them. Make loud comments about armchair critics :) they are doing it because they are getting away with it.

This absolutely! I did this years ago to a person who proclaimed loudly across the ring that my horse would '*****ing go on a bit better if I *****ing let him go a bit!'.....I replied by looking about and saying 'where's your horse?'.....to which she said 'no *****ing way would I do this!' To which I then replied 'well, until you have a horse here to compete yourself, wind your neck and mind your own business!'...as equally as loud....

I was so angry I had to walk away and calm down before I started swinging punches, can't stand people who gob off when it can be nerve wracking enough to compete, no matter the height.

Grrrrr....

Mind you, never had a comment since! :D

We have 3 of these types on my current yard.they never say anything directly but you can guarantee if you have a lesson or helping school someone's horse they will be standing on the side lines whispering away.they don't speak to me at all now which suits me perfectly but strangly have started showing up at all my competitions asking everyone but me how I'm getting on!i call them my fan club :-) .its sad though when it starts affecting the younger kids on the yard who now won't ride when their about.if they where out competing like the rest of us I could maybe understand that they were competitive but all they do is have lessons!!i don't know why people can't be supportive and encouraging.lifes hard enough without negative people trying to bring you down.

"If I wanted your opinion love, I'd have kicked your sodding kennel!" is a line I have trotted out a few times. It usually stuns the offender that much, they don't have a response and tend to pipe down in the future.

Either that or ignore them.

the owner of the horse is aware and has caught them on cctv
she has told the yard owner and the police and they are dealing with it

if i had caught/seen them beating any horse i'd not be sat here typing as i'd be in serious trouble and i wouldn't have bothered consulting the yard owner , the culprit stays well out of my way as i have all ready had a run in with her because she was helping herself to my feed and i will not be intimidated or bullied these days by idiots like her
she has been told if i catch her anywhere near any of my things i will find her and break her fingers and i don't really care who is reading this
if i catch her anywhere near my horse .. well :/

the owners and yard owner are dealing with it atm and yes i agree i do hope she is thrown off the yard asap as she really needs to be dealt with

'Telling anyone who will listen'. Don't listen, then- remove their power. If you can't avoid them, .. Actively show your support for the seller,
''I actually saw her going really well with x, it says a lot about her capabilities that she knew to let something not worth her time go. It's nice for her that she's sold her to you now, so she buy something decent."

BUT I'm an inflammatory person! I can't let things go haaha./

I always think of good comebacks like this but never have the balls to say it!! Did make me laugh ;-)

Yeah, you need a comment that *sounds* nice but is quite cutting on closer inspection

I would absolutely thump lumps out of anyone i caught doing this to my horses, and if i had no proof and was told, id confront them and tell them what to expect if i catch them anywhere near my horses, id rather have a field and no facilities of my own before if ever go back on a yard, and this sort of behaviour and the bitching that goes on is the reason why
