Hi guys..
So mare is heavily in season and I really mean heavily. She's squirting so much it looks like she having a wee and she's doing it at mare, gelding..anything that moves generally.
My sis got on her tonight and she was definitely not lame, but every now and again looked kind of stiff on her back end, more her off hind than anything...her bum kind of came up like she wasn't bending her hock properly and moving her hind leg straighter underneath her, but this was just every now and then..she was lazier than normal but we put that down to the heat and she couldnt' be bothered....sis jumped off and wonderful very knowledgable YO looked at her trotted up and said she was definitely level behind with no lameness...in fact she looked better when in hand...
I do panic as she suffers from tying up and had an attack about a month ago, but it definitely wasn't that...she was happy to move forward and it didn't get worse with exercise as tying up would..it wasn't the same kind of stiffness that she gets when tying up as that is sudden and severe every time (she's had it 5 times now) and she also refuses to move when tied up..
Sis popped on again and gently walked her and she started to improve, tracked up and the 'bum hopping' disappeared....showed no signs of discomfort, ears pricked, happy to move up a gear..although was a bit lazy (but that's not unusual for her)...I did have a good feel up and down her back legs up to her rump and picked up both hooves which she was fine with...no heat, swelling, cuts, lumps etc..
her stomach has been grumbling quite a bit recently and she did have the runs for a couple of days prior to yesterday, but all poo's are now back to normal and throughout, she was perfectly happy, eating well and moving well in the field...
Anyone got any ideas?? She's nearly 10 by the way...
Do you think that it could be related to discomfort in her ovaries from being so heavily in season (in previous years she's never been too bad, but this year its minging!)...she's not been moody/agressive or changed in personality at all...
