Bit of a strange question but would you eat dog meat?

Do you generally mind the swearing on here, albeit abbreviated?

Following on from a recent post about eating horse meat. I thought it would be rather interesting to see what others views are about eating dog meat( flesh).
Personally I could never do it but each to their own I suppose.
Please elaborate on your answers wherever possible?
If you choose not to eat dog meat then please say why.
If you would eat dog meat ( flesh) it would be interesting to know why, be it to try a new taste? Is it considered to be more nutritious pound for pound than traditionally meat reared animals?
It would also be interesting to read the opinions of people who said yes to eating horsemeat and no to dog?
To me what is the difference?
Both are used by man for all sorts of reasons so why eat one and not the other?
Is it because we feel more emotionally attached to our dog as it lays by the fire in winter than to our horse who wanders around the snow covered pasture or lays on its bed of straw?
Do we have preconceptions that if an animal eats grass or plants it is ours for the eating whereas an animal that eats meat is top of the food chain like us and we should not therefore consume it?
I would eat neither to be honest for many different reasons and not just because I have emotional attachments as I own both.

I am a vegetarian. Some years ago when I was fighting to save my horse, I thought how can I be doing this and still eating other animals. If I still eat animals, I can give this one up. I wasn't going to give up on my horse, so to level the argument I haven't eaten meat since.

I would never eat a carnivorous animal; heck most carnivorous animals don't even eat carnivorous animals LOL!!

Herbivores and Omnivores all the way for me thank you.

What about a 'vegetarian dog'? Would that make a difference??

I wouldn't eat it from choice, but that is largely because in the countries where dog is routinely eaten, it is treated barbarically before its death. Also, there is an emotional element because we have dogs living in the house with us. Cats on the other hand - no problem!

LOL!! Functionality and digestion is different between carnivores and herbivores. I don't care whether it takes like chicken or brussel sprouts

I'm still not eating carnivores meat!

Why would a dog lover (assuming only dog lovers read a forum All About Dogs) even think about eating a dog and where on earth did they eat it? Only Piebaldsparkle has admitted eating it. I'm interested to know the whys and hows(and what were you thinking

I am a vegetarian and wouldn't eat a dog any more than I'd eat a baby.

While I ahve no objection to eating the meat there are almost no places you can find to eat it where the dog will have had a a free and natural life with a humane death.

So no I wouldnt...but if it became more humane/mainstream then I would consider it

I would not eat it. Simply because however hypocritical it is, dog is mans best friend. A cow however is not my best friend, therefore I have no qualms eating it. Yum!
