Hi all, I am entering my first ridden class in September at just a very local show. I have tried to search on this but I can't seem to find a definitive answer, all varying slightly which is confusing the hell out of me (and it does not take much normally!).
I have a mw TB, and am entering the riding club horse ridden showing class. Can someone confirm to me:
Brown tack - snaffle - Can I just keep brown browband or do I need a coloured one, and can I use rubber reins, or is this a no no?
Should the horse be plaited at all, or left smart, but plait free?
I am wearing green tweed jacket, yellow tie, creamy jods, black boots, black hat, black leather gloves, does this sound correct?
Do you do quatermarkers in this type of class?
Anything I have forgotten?
I have got about a month to go and am panicing already, but once I get the first one under my belt I am sure I will be fine!
Can anyone post some pics to help if possible too, just because I am nosey and want to see everyone looking smart in their show attire!! :D

hi

for local shows the main rule is have fun! it is important to look smart but that is not as important as having a good time if it is your first show. i would keep the brown browband if i were you, i know coloured ones arent allowed in some classes. plait the horse only m&ms are shown in "natural state". i dont really know about rubber reins, i dont see that it will be that important at a local show so if you are happier with rubber reins then use them, if you are more bothered about looking right then dont. your outfit sounds fine. dont know about quatermarks, i think if you want them, do them, if not dont! i dont think it matters either way.

has been a while since i did showing, but if im wrong im sure someone will point out my mistakes.

good luck!

Sally

Thanks for the advice Sally, I will be nervous, but I am so excited too, I have waited for a long time to be able to do this, long story, but just don't want to stick out like a sore thumb!!

Everything you have planned sounds ok to me. Definately plait, brown browband and quarter marks optional.

Have fun and good luck!

I do a lot of RCH classes. Plait, & you need brown gloves for showing, even though your boots are black. Everything else sounds good. RCH is deemed a 'working' class so plain tack is best. No martingale, boots or coloured numnah. You can do quarter marks if you wish to show off your horses' bum. Enjoy & good luck.
