A different bit won't stop him from napping - only you can do that.

If this is all new behaviour what has changed in his environment?

One of my cobs is a 'snaffle mouth plodder' but only when ridden in company! He naps for England when on his own but I have finally got him to go forwards by being very positive and using the crop if need be. We do reverse quite a bit so I just turn him right round and send him on really positively. I did change the eggburt bit to a D-ring for better steering or you could try a full cheek.

does his saddle fit ok? thats what i would look at first if that fits ok then sounds like he's being naughty rather than in pain. but changing the bit wont help but may make things much worse...

have the same prob people said i should try spurs, small stump ones just so that he knows u are serious about going out, be careful tho do not kick your horse only use light taps
