Is it ok to try a horse in a bit that is 1/2" - 3/4" too big (straight bar happy mouth american gag) and use 2 sets of bit rings to make it not so wide? Am only trying it out hunting on Sat for an hour or so to see if horse goes well in it then will buy one the correct size.

Trouble with the bit is that its not the kind anyone has lurking in their tack rooms.

I think you'd probably get away with it, as it's a straight bar, but I don't envy you the task of getting two sets of bit rings over the american gag cheeks!:D
