Sorry another bit question.
I cannot stop my boy crunching his bit when we are out hacking so wondered if any of you have any recommendations of a bit to try. So far he has had a full cheek eggbutt snaffle, a happy mouth snaffle (which he has chewed so much I have had to stop using it) and a myler snaffle.
He has got one of his back teeth missing from a kick years ago when he was young (he is 13 now) but his teeth are checked regularly so no problem there.
Im not sure what started it but I think it is more of a habit thing now, it certainly isnt stress or because he is anxious as he only does it in very familiar surroundings to him and also when he is just having a nice stroll it may even be a boredom thing? (although we vary the route all the time). He has been out of work for 7½ months so only being ridden in walk at the moment and thinking about it that is when he does it. When he was in normal work it only happens in walk when I am not making him work on contact.
Any suggestions?
