Bit rings question

Hi guys,

hope everybody's enjoying the warmer weather. Just a quick question about rubber bit rings/guards.

New loan horse is ridden in a loose jointed snaffle and noticed a red mark by the corner of his mouth after riding so though Id pop some bit guards on and see if it helped. Popped them on the bit this afternoon, bit the bit is quite thick at the ends an the bit guards are quite tight around the bit. This made me think it might create a new set of problems if the bit guard rubs as it is so tight it cant turn around the bit.

Basically, I was wondering if anyone knew if the bit rings/guards come with a bigger hole in the middle? Quick google and it seems they only come in one size.

If this is the case, might need to look for a different bit...

When i started my cob in the loose ring i actually went a little bigger to ensure the lip rings where not pinching the lips by the bit fitting too snug
NS do 1/4 inch sizings.
