i have noticed after riding Frankie that he is starting to get small 'bald' patches where his bit is........not on the corners of his mouth but slightly up a bit. also sweats up there to. (think its sweat, might be a bit too far up for mouth froth!) i have been riding him since April, and he hasn't had these before, so i don't think its my riding. i don't like to be heavy handed, although sometimes he does spook and throws me off balance, but not every time we ride! i am going to have a lesson in the next few weeks so I'll see how heavy handed my instructor thinks i am.

well i did think that but it hasnt bothered him before? do you think that because he has more hair now it it making it too narrow?

or am i talking poo?!

My Horse gets the same and yes, it's because in winter they have more hair thus you can see it more. I actually think with mine it's more his noseband that does it.

Bit guards will help, and also, after working make sure you sponge round his mouth.

thanks for replying, i was worried that it was me! i always wash the bit and give his mouth a rub after riding (which he loves!) so i'll give it a wash as well. and get some bit guards this weekend!

I have the same problem I even change my cheekpeices to the ones that fasten outside if you know what I mean I do think it is the noseband and how do you fit bitguards to a tomb thumb bit I'm ok on my snaffle !!
