My OH's horse hacks out in a lozenge snaffle with a flash. Schooling he fights the bit so we have been playing with different types of bits. They need to be dressage legal as he has started eventing - unaffiliated.

We have found that he doesn't like the flash - but without it when bored he works out how to get his tongue over the lozenge snaffle. So we tried him in my old horses straight bar vulcanite pelham - he loved it, didn't try to get his tongue over - no flash needed. So I then tried my curved bar vulcanite hanging cheek - it worked brilliantly - again no tongue over and worked on the bit and was soft in the hand. But it is actually about half an inch too narrow. So where can I now but a 5.75" vulcanite curved bar with hanging cheeks.

I did think about the happy mouth straight bar with hanging cheeks - but think he would simply put his tongue over as it would be quite a thin bar.

Can't advise on the bit but if he hates the flash, why not try a different noseband? Mine hates a flash and a grackle but goes really nicely in a drop
