Hello

Tried my mare in a straight bar 6.5" rubber bit today which fit her great , however I want to get her a happy mouth snaffle or similar

I am just wondering if she fits a 6,5" straight bar , would a jointed 6.5" still fit her or will she need bigger/smaller in a jointed snaffle ?

Measure the actual size of the bit that is in the horses mouth.

Bits are measured between the rings, have a look at how the one you have currently fits, push one side so that it is up close to the corner of her mouth, then see how much is exposed on the other side, measure this bit then deduct this amount from the overall size of the bit. This will give you the actual width of her mouth. For a jointed snaffle add ½" to the measurement.

So if a 6.5" straight bar fits her perfect, she'd need a 7" in a snaffle ?
