bit sizing help please!

I have a feeling my boy's bit is too big for his mouth?


This is a 5 1/2" mullen mouth, and sometimes it slides so all the excess bit is sticking out one side (does that make sense?) and this is how much there is:

Obviously there's not that much sticking out on both sides, but that's how much there is altogether.

I bought him a 5" yesterday to compare and now Im scared its too small!


Any advice greatly appreciated

That is over an inch too big, so not ideal!!
5" should be fine

However if you are worried print out this bit measure (you need some cardboard, scissors and glue!!!)

i thought it was too big but shamefully only just got round to changing it! That's the last time I listen to other people when they say its fine

Well actually on a mullen mouth pelham, it wouldn't have hurt being bigger, looks untidy more than anything else.

yeah i know what you mean about that! It would be a shame because we would get some really nice pictures but have his bit sticking out of his mouth

Yeah, my sister said that he was 5 1/2 when I first got him and ive just never ever got round to changing it! at least he wont be embarassed anymore
