Im a bit stuck with what to do....my friend has suggested that I move my horse to her yard due to the fact he is a youngster, I dont have anyone to ride out with and he has been playing up due to me only being able to school him in the field where he grazes. Although I really like the idea I do not have alot of money - im training in my job and am not too sure if I should. I basically rent a 2 acre field with a stable, barn and indoor stable and a 10 acre field in the summer where I school him. I have a little 30 yr old pony who keeps him company and I am not too sure if she would like to be back in a field of 10 other horses pushing and kicking her about.
My plan was maybe to just move him to the yard and to keep my pony in the small 2 acre field with a couple of sheep as friends.
I have lost a bit of confidence and although I have been riding for 20 yrs on lots of different horses, have competed etc I just am not too sure I like riding out on my own, and get a little worried when he plays me about in the road and rears when lunging. I have managed to keep him calm and collected recently but he is starting to mess me around and I dont want to end up with a horse I cant ride in years to come. I would prefer to be riding offroad, riding out with more experienced horses and having people around me who know what they are talking about.
At the moment I pay £100 for both fields, stables and barn but have to pay out for hay/bedding in the winter. The riding is straight onto a 50mph road with quite a few big lorries and then onto quiet lanes and I do not have anywhere to really school him apart from the top section of the 10 acre field.
The yard would be £35 a week which would include hay and bedding, grazing, offroad riding, school and my friend.
I dont know what to do...? I have had bad experiences with yards, my horses have been kicked and hurt in past and people have been horrid. I am not sure if I should just go for grass livery at £15 a week but it also would mean seperating my pony and horse...ahhhhh....suggestions please...
