Hi there
Just having my new horse purchase vetted but subject to him passing
he's mine. He comes with no tack at all and I am deliberating about what bit to start out with. He is a little Spanish bred horse but not a PRE. He has a rather fleshy mouth and a low pallet. He has had some wolf teeth knocked out at gum level (apparently with a hammer in spain!) owners vet apparently recommended to leave them as they are but to bit with something which 'took the aid out of his mouth'? which i don't know what meant unless a bit-less set up which I am not keen on. Current owner tried a Pelham which he did not like. and is now riding in a ported Nathe bit which he does not really love either and gives a very dead feel. He is not however especially tricky in his mouth - i mean he is not strong or pulling faces or tossing his head.
I am thinking of trying a warm metal lozenge loose ring bit but would welcome any further suggestions...?
