Right, things have being going well so far with J, and he has settled nicely in the loose ring lozange snaffle for flatwork and hacking, but I found jumping him in it a disaster, he wont let you take a hold when jumping in it chucks his head all over the place no matter how quiet I ride, so i have ended up using a soft rubber pelham to jump him which has been OK, you can actually take a hold and say wait without him having a hissy fit like he would in the metal bit.
My problem is he was quite strong in that XC schooling and jumping outside, and finds the mouthpiece quite easy to lean on when he is tired. I saw a Cambridge mouth rubber pelham somewhere but cant find it again, wondered if that might be hard to lean on/get hold off? Or thought maybe a hard rubber pelham might be better?
He really didn't like the french link gag I tried, think anything metal when jumping might not be such a good idea
Any ideas?
Thanks
