I have a TB with a very low palette. I hangs his tongue out to one side and resists contact if it's too tight. I can't seem to find a bit he likes. I've tried several different ones.

single jointed snaffle
French link
Neue Schule angled with lozenge
Herm Sprenger duo
myler comfort snaffle.
single jointed fager
double jointed fager

He seems happiest in a single jointed dutch gag (bubble bit) but that's no good for dressage.
The herm sprenger he leaned on so hard he nearly pulled me out of my saddle.

Anyone have any other suggestions please? Anyone have any luck with bits with rollers?

My late horse was very difficult in the mouth and eventually I had someone out from Bitfit. They suggested I try the NS Baucher turtle top, it's the hanging cheek version of the TT. He was much improved in it. I've got my present mare in the loose ring turtle top and she goes nicely in that. I was impressed with the advice I got from the Bit fit consultant and she pointed out a lot that I hadn't realised about the conformation of his mouth and I regret not doing it sooner. Sadly I lost him very shortly after that but used them again for the new mare.

I'm a big fan of the Neue Schule Turtle Top but they are all so different! Have you tried different nosebands aswell, my old horse had the worst contact and a hard mouth but he loved a drop noseband!

He objects to anything around his mouth. Tried drop, flash and figure 8/grackle. He's even been in a micklem. He refuses to move forward.

Oh no! Its so hard when they have their own objections - I met Gail from Horse Bit Hire at a clinic for a consultation, she is brilliant! She did followe up with me over email & with videos which might work at the moment - she might be work contacting or another bit consultant? Its so hard when it can be just trial and error!! My old horse loved Mylers but my current boy couldnt stand it!

After trying so many bits, I would be looking at other possible causes to his reluctance to go forwards. Speaking from experience, my absolute first port of call would be discounting ulcers by way of a gastroscope.

He only refuses to move forward when he has a noseband around his mouth. In a plain cavesson he's fine. He was scoped for ulcers 3 months ago just to rule it out. All clear.

I had my mare (after many trials and errors) in a hanging cheek low port myler - she had a thick tongue and a low palate so not a lot of room.
My gelding was in a bubble gag bit, which is no use for dressage, so moved him to the turtle tacio baucher, which seems to really suit him. He also won't do any form of fastening below the bit - so it is cavesson or no noseband for him. If you've not tried a hanging cheek, maybe worth a shot?
For both, I found the bit bank were good at suggesting options based on what I'd already tried and what confirmation/reaction they had to them - and you can try things and return ones that don't work! Although if you have a bit consultant nearby, that is probably the best route.

Thank-you. Think im going to try the turtle tactio baucher. He's had a low port myler in before and spent the ride with his head stuck in the air with his mouth open lol
