I haven't massively entered into the whole rollkur debate on HHO, although have supported a petition asking for it to be banned.

But I have read a lot of the posts and would say that the majority of HHOers are opposed to it (although there seem to one or 2 who think its ok, the vast majority are opposed to it).

So it seems odd to choose about the only post headed 'In defence of rollkur' as the number 1 topic for the forum.

Now we know a lot of people replied on that post disagreeing, but it just seems an odd choice as it sort of implies that most of us support rollkur.

Or am I being over sensitive?

On a separate note, am I the only one to think H&H is getting slimmer and slimmer these days. It didnt even last me a 50 minute train journey today. And I did read most of it other than a lot of the dressage articles (think the editor must love dressage as they even seem to cover who wins at prelim these days....yawn... Is that really news worthy?)

*** edited as I said top forum item was 'in support of rollkur' and it actually was 'in defence of rollkur'

I haven't seen the top threads list in H&H, but is the "In support of rollkur" you mention, my "In defence of rollkur..."?

If yes, I did not intend that thread to imply that either I or anyone else on H&H supports rollkur. I was interested in the evidence against rollkur and I think everyone would be interested in that and in the decision to campaign against rollkur specifically. For those who are against rollkur, articulating the evidence and reasons against it will make their arguments much more convincing to other people and more likely to affect change. For those who haven't made their minds up, seeing evidence might help them decide what they think about it.

Perhaps though that was the wrong title for the thread, maybe it should have been called "In defence of rollkur?"

The top H & H forum topics often bear little resemblance to the topics which get most response on here, not quite sure why.

Sorry you are right its 'in defence of rollkur' not 'in support'. Kind of reads the same though. when seen in isolation. Will see if I can still edit my original post and change it

Because they do not pick the most popular topics, they pick whichever random ones they think will get people to look at the forum.

Yep generally it seems to be the threads that make the forum look good. Although that one might make people come on here I suppose.

I'm still proud of having the very first top post in the magazing though!

"What happened to piebald and skewbald" teehehehe claim to fame! lol

top forum topics aren't the top ones really- as others have said they are cherrypicked i think.

on H&H getting slimmer- yep i have noticed too.
also noticed more and more full page adverts which seem to be taking over the mag.
now i understand advertising revenue is main source of income but it gets a bit much when 2/3 of the mag is advertisements.

Dressage is getting so much coverage as eventing is over, showing and polo are also over. Jump racing is just beginning to pick up and so dressage and Sjing are the only things left. I think there is too much dressage coverage in H&H though and wonder why no other sports get so much coverage. I am also fed up with the working rider thing as it is mega dull now. Would be better if they could do it for all the sports.

The magazine gets slimmer, the content reduced.... yet the price increases. It used to last me a couple of days, now barely an hour. Sorry H&H but I won't be buying you again.

I very rarely buy H&H any more, its half the size of what it used to be. I remember my favourites used to be the show guide numbers - packed full of interesting articles and interviews, stallion adverts etc etc. These days it is mainly adverts and no content. Not worth buying anymore sadly, and as I know a lot less people buy it, its not worth advertising in either
