Well we have had our first hack! 45 mins led by a lovely 17yo young lady who I'm sure did not envision spending her Monday morning holding the hands of two mid thirties scatterbrains. Only one hairy moment when we had one very irritating fly (yard is by a lough so the normal application of fly spray was just not cutting it), I think 8-10 horses galloping up and down behind a hedge line and also several cars including one with a trailer coming up behind. Bless him he got a bit frazzled and both ends lifted a little bit but hey, good to get that nightmare over with on the first day. He was very good given the circumstances and being half blind.

First schooling session put off by thunderstorms but got a few pics today of the handsome and very wet boy.

The ginger fella in front here is a very rude pony. I was thoroughly mugged for snacks.

Little update, finally got our first go in the arena (weather has been nice and I was off work last week so been mostly hacking while we can!) and he is VERY nappy towards his lovely Arab friend. He goes very nicely otherwise tho and is obviously just a bit unsure so if confidence building in the school is our first goal I am happy with that, it will be good for both of us.

Think me and friend are going to work towards some very simple dressage tests with the pair of them. I have more riding experience but I'll be doing it one handed so I think its fair ?

Yay this is so exciting! Don't know how I've missed this thread until now. I'm so glad you found someone. I heard just today of someone looking for a sharer and thought of you but you're the opposite end of town to me as far as I remember! (and this fella looks much more fun) hope ye have lots of fun together!

Well this fella is in the back end of nowhere so I have had to adjust my expectations on distance lol but at least it's not through Belfast traffic!

Will post a few more pics, he is such a handsome man!!

Update: ol' one-eye Danny DID have me off last week while we did some experimenting with washing-line reins in canter and he threw a rather exuberant little buck. My two brain cells were clearly not speaking to eachother at this time and my friend was advising new things to try after her ride on a still-a-polo-pony but no harm done. I landed VERY well (and purposefully) having not fallen off in approx 10 years so that's good and only a slight knock to the confidence so purchased a neck strap and have had some lovely work the last few days! Definitely getting much less attached to his Emotional Support Pony friend and honestly when he isn't looking for him he basically steers via eye contact. He's a lovely lovely boy.

I have ruined him with minty treats, he thinks I might be hiding them in my hair.
