Ok, this is my first bitch and she is having her first season.

She has been "on" now for about 2 weeks. Since my smug post the other day stating that my male dog (castrated) is showing no interest in her,, well things have changed

. She now isn't so bloody but obviously smells ready cos he is humping for England. He was even trying to hump her in the back of the Landrover as I did the school run the other day

He's a big lad and was on full display giving it his all

So how long does this phase last for? I am keeping them seperate as much as possible, but it's not easy

she just seems confused and can't really understand what is going on?

Please tell me this will be over in a few days and normality will return to my pooches. Failing that, do any of these "go away you horny b***er" sprays work?

Female Hormonal Cycle

Should last 21/23 days apparently

I have used a spray for getting the smell off our gate

as my entire male was doing an impression of hannibal lecter everytime we walked by - and it did work - but I don't think they quite so good actually on the dog? Worth a try to take the edge off it maybe? Or just leave em to it - is safe sex after all

Thanks Widget, that was realy useful. Only a week left then I think, so I reckon I can stick it out for that long

I can't let them be bonking all over the place, it's gross. He looks like a perverted old man following her around and then humping with his tongue hanging out
tongue.gif
. She just looks all confused as though to say "mum, I don't like the way Ki plays anymore"

It's just so wrong

It should be over soon, she's now in the receptive stage hence the humping, I think your' looking at 4-5days more possibly of this. I could keep them separate if possible as constant humping isn't going to do either any favours

Our boys are usually besides themselves when our girls are in season, but then they are both stud dogs so they know exactly what its all about!! It usually last about 5 days when they are at their most frustrated!!

We do not let any of the entire boys anywhere near our girls for the whole time they are smelling sweet as the boys would hop on at any opportunity!! (That is unless we want them too!!)

Poor buggers usually go off their food a bit for the time the girls are 'on' as they are so ... hmmmm.. sexually frustrated!!

It is easy for us though as most of ours live outside and we are kennelled in pairs... so we can just switch them around to suit!!

Funnily enough although my castrated dog will try it on occassionaly, generally he doesn't get himself all worked up like the stud dogs do when the girls are in season!! In fact he usually gets his occasional randy moments when they aren't even in season

Thanks TripleSandH, hopefully only a few more days of this now then. Dare I say I think things are calming down a bit now. They are getting used to being seperated too, so that helps, luckily in the evening, when the fire is lit, he tends to forget all about his urges and crashes out by the fire - he must be a morning boy

Thanks Foxfolly, we are on day 2-3 of this now so not long now (I hope)

Our old lab (entire) used to go off his food for a few days if a bitch was in season. Other than that he never showed any signs of being frustrated. It's not put Ki off his food though, a boys gotta keep his energy up I suppose
