My little girl dog is very loving, the retriever x poodle next door, also a girl is very affectionate. At the yard the Duck Toller is friendly but the chocolate Lab is very affectionate. So do you have experiences of Bitch's being more affectionate than Dogs?

Yes and no! We always had bitches up until a few years ago. The boys have been 'harder' and less sensitive to things like raised voices, corrections etc, but also a bit more needy and in-your-face, if that makes any sense!
May also be a breed thing.

No its certainly not black or white, my last 2 Lancashire Heelers were very loving, our current one only when it suits her.

All my boy Dobes including the entire were very loving even searching me out for a cuddle, we only have the 1 Dobe bitch but she is more reticent but will not turn down a cuddle.

I have always found my girls much easier to work with (except for the broken nose I gained last week when one of them jumped up and headbutted me!!) But my boys seem to be more rewarding to work with, possibly because I have to try harder to get through to them. Haven't really answered your question, but my bitches are definitely more willing to please, and would rather be on the sofa cuddling whereas the boys get fed up with people and take themselves off to their own beds.

I have 7 bitches and they are all incredibly affectionate but I've known many very affectionate dogs too. I think it's more to do with their nature and most likely partly due to their upbringing too.

Dunno, my gelding is hugely affectionate as are all of my male dogs. I notice mares are more affectionate when in season, no idea about bitches, never had anything to do with any.

I think it depends on the breed as well

Our terrier is a bitch - she's not overly affectionate, would rather be out ratting than sat having a cuddle

Our dog is a border collie/springer mix - Incredibly affectionate and will actively seek cuddle time

nope, ive had/have 3 dogs and 5 bitches.. the 2 most standoffish of the bunch have been 1 dog and 1 bitch... the rest have been equally loving and affectionate.

my dog is a whippet so prone to being a very loving little dog anyway, but he is genuinely the most affectionate, cuddly, people friendly dog I've ever met. He adores all people without exception :D

My bitch is a lurcher, but shes a rescue so has a lot of issues. When she lets you in, she loves to cuddle up and be fussed with, but not in the same league as my dog

My dog *needs* his cuddle time and will clamber into a lap regardless of what you're doing and demand to be cradled like a baby. At 24kg this can be inconvenient. :o

My bitch appears very much aloof and independent - if you sit next to her on the sofa she'll huff and slink off, won't be cuddled, no instinct to stay close (though this is a breed thing, my dog still voluntarily sticks within a certain radius - she has no radius at all).

Yet she is the one with the separation anxiety, the dog couldn't give a hoot if he was on his own, and we have our own special ways of showing affection like silly playfight games and the way she will lie pressed up against the sofa in the evening and wait until I've rested a hand on her before she goes to sleep. :)

Always found bitches easier to train, house train and more biddable than dogs but I prefer mares to geldings too so it may well be that I have a closer bond with female entire pets than male or neutered ones purely through personal preference maybe I try harder with the girls.
I prefer male humans though dont bond well with female friends and am a bit prickly with all the huggy kissy stuff they seem to go in for

My staffy boy is alot more affectionate an the girls ( sbt and rottie).

He's another one for clambering onto our knee at any moment and likes to be rocked and held. Wierd boy.

I suspect that females tend to be a little softer than males, and so more amenable, but as with humans, it isn't always the case! I suspect that, as again with humans, it's a lot to do with the upbringing of the animal, and the early and formative weeks of the puppies life. Those being allowed to express themselves freely without any form of control, will generally express themselves in a similar fashion, later on in life.

Generally, with a puppy, what you have at 16 weeks is what you have for life.

Alec.

Only ever owned bitches so can't comment on the dog v bitch but all mine have been different in their attitude. Inca (fcr) would look at you with " want we gonna play, play, play, play" maya (fcr) " I do love you" lily (fcr) " do you love me" lily is the most cuddley of them all.
I my opinion every dog is different regardless of breed or sex

I've found exactly the opposite with CKCS, whippets, greyhounds and lurchers - the dogs are more affectionate than the bitches :)

My current greyhound boy is 34kg of complete soft wimpiness :D

Our chocolate lab bitch is not cuddly at all, we call her a diva. She likes to be the centre of attention but likes her own space. Occasionally she will have a cuddle off my OH but usually only when there is food involved (or she thinks food is involved)

I have two dogs, both entire, both GSDs but not related. The older one (4) is aloof; he likes to be near you but no need to touch. He likes a scratch at the top of his tail so will wave his bum in your direction, if you're lucky. The younger one (18 months) is a lovable, huggable needy little chap who LOVES to have you sit with him on the floor, and will wriggle his head under your hand for a fuss. I've taught the older one to accept a cuddle (he'll drop his head onto your shoulder. Hey. I pay the bills!) but he's really not fussed. The younger one is what I'd call a whirlwind and he adores affection but not really cuddles, happy with a pat and his tail will whap the floor when you touch him, look at him, or mention his name. No experience with bitches, but that's as much affection as I'd ever need hehe.

I find girls more eager to work and please yet not so cuddly. Males I find a bit more selective of when they want to listen but always up for a tonne of fuss.

The bitches I've also known (including our new girl) have tended to have one owner but are still friendly with other people. Bella is pretty much a mummies girl and will be at my feet if she can but Archie isn't bothered although OH thinks he's also a mummies boy. Both dogs are affectionate with other peeps but that may be due to us exposing them to as many people and places as possible.

Lex I thought your boy was full staff?
