Have so called friend.When I told her my stepson, who has just completed a 4 year very demanding degree, has returned home.She replied Has he got a job yet or is he still living off his Dad?He is looking hard and will get a job in the next couple of months I expect.
 
I would have smugly said'Well at least he has got a degree,more than some round here might have....Suck on that!'

she clearly has no idea how hard it is for graduates to get a job at the moment, has no idea about the current state of the econony, of the cost of renting property etc etc. sounds very rude and ignorant!!
 
"Good heavens no, he's living off your taxes!" assuming she's in work, if she isn't then "Same as you love, bumming off the state".

This is in no way intended to belittle anyone, just a couple of smartass answers.
 
Its hard for most young people to find work at the moment, my son as applied for everything going and there is 20 people in front of him everytime. So my son is living off me at the moment and thats what i,m there for anyway i don,t mind as long as he is looking and applying for work. Tell friend to go suck an egg !!
 
i agree it is really tough out there, i graduated this year, i was lucky to be offered the first job i went for, but my friend who has completed the same degree as me has applied for over 65 jobs and still nothing, with most companies not bothering to inform her that she has been unsuccessful in her application.

I have always been one for finding rubbish temp work if necessary and have never truley lived off my parents since starting uni. Sis graduated last summer and had no trouble finding agency factory temp work/cleaning etc round here.

I am surprised at the number of grads who seem to wait for a job in their chosen field to be offered and don't do anything in the meantime.
