Biteback fly spray - a review

I saw someone recommend this spray on a thread recently and thought I'd try it.

Its not cheap! Think it was around £20 with postage.

The flies have been absolutely horrendous here the last few days so it was a good time to test it out. We've had midges and those dreadful big black things that have long dangly legs and hang out in massive swarms, plus greenflies too.

I'm actually really impressed!

We hacked out for over two hours yesterday and not a single midge or big black horrorfly landed on him. Some greenfly did land on him but they aren't really an issue as he doesn't notice them.

Overall, I'd say it's well worth the money and I will definitely buy it again.

Biteback Neem Supreme was the only product that had any effect for my sweetitch horses, and I’ve tried every thing out there. Nothing is 100%, but Biteback is not only efficacious but also environmentally better than others.

Just checked the ingredients, icaradin at 20% concentration, should be similar to deet without the irritation.

I wondered about biteback, i bought hot horse again for this year, 4 pouches for £70 and hopefully it will work just as well

I do like to spray with two different types , not sure it helps right enough

Biteback has Icardin/Saltidin in it which is very effective but not as harsh as deet. The only other one that had this ingredient was red horse super but they've discontinued due to regulatory issues and the replacement doesn't seem to be out yet.

Pretty sure that HedgeWitch is also icaridin based.

St Mark's Fly (bibio marci). Horrid things! People keep telling me its ok because they don't bite. I do believe them but they still give me the shivers.

The St Mark's fly is small, black and shiny. It is so-called because it emerges around St Mark's Day, April 25th. Large numbers of adults can be found in woodland edges, hedgerows, fields and wetlands.

I had wondered what they were. Only see them at one place I ride and was terrified at first until I realised they didn't bite. Still unpleasant.

I use Biteback. I’m not sure which one, but I don’t think they do my favourite anymore which was Summer Nights.

Their Itch Relief spray is also very good and a friend has a horse with a mane again after many years of him itching it raw.

Thanks for heads up. One horse hates Power Phaser smell so have ordered this as apparently doesn't smell strongly but equally effective.
