my 6y/o constantly chews on the bit! i dont know why though. he also holds it in his mouth when i try and take his bridle off and grinds his teeth on it. he also tries to pull the reins out of my hand and make an un-even contact or to loose the contact when im riding him. he nodds up and down as he chews and leans on the bit or brings his neck back up to me and chews with no contact. he does it when hes relaxed and anxious, in his stable when i tack up and when im riding him

his back/teeth are checked and are fine. i've ridden him from leg to hand, no leg etc but i cant figure it out

can any one help please?

Do you have a good instructor?

G used to grind his bit although not to the extent you describe and it completely stopped when I got a new instructor and he changed the way I was riding.

i have recently hanged instructor and have also changed my bit. he was in a staight bar happy mouth gag or snaffle for flatwork. my new instructor said he didnt like it so we have a french link loose ring snaffle. hes had it in for nearly a week now and its just got worse. he used to do it in the other bit as well but you couldnt hear it, only feel it because of the rubber and not metal

hes defo uncomfortable but i dont no where. i tried a different bit in him tonight. a sweet iron loose ring snaffle with a losenge - its what my old boy has. he didnt chew, just bite and not very often. do you think it could be he type of metal in his mouth or the joint of the bit?
