Bitless Bridle

hey
i orriginally bought one for my arab, and it was useless, had absolutely no brakes, and she bucked lots! so i shoved it to the back of the tack room and forgot about it. i recently got a big tb who is VERY bold xc, and i had no brakes hacking or jumping, she also was stiff. so i tried her in the dr cooks and shw is fabby, much more relaxed, supple and soooo controlable!
i cant believe what it has done for my tb, but obviously doesnt work for every horse as the other proved!
how has it worked for you, and what made you buy it?

Our IDx leans (or did!) on the bit and I found I was looking at more and more extreme bitting to try to cure the problem. I found the Dr Cooks on the internet and thought it sounded a great idea but had my reservations of course. We've had it two days and so far are completely converted. Our instructor used it on Friday and loved it and said my husband got the best canter ever out of the horse. He took the horse out in the field today and galloped, cantered and jumped and she was so relaxed and happy. Off to xc training tomorrow so that will be the real test (well that and hunting!!!!)
My TB is retired from competition now but I thought a bitless would be lovely for her for hacking out - so light and gentle.

ive been thinking of trying 1 on my mare that is a lunatic in a bit. i ride her in a hackamore and she is a lot nicer, but can still hang on occasion when she gets a bit stressy. does anyone have experience of a hackamore to a dr cooks or vice versa?

My cob goes jumping in a hackamore, b#never looked back, he loves it, and is so much more forward, had bad experiences with bits and jumping with last owners, so psychological i think!

The main thing to bear in mind with a Dr Cook's bitless bridle is that the pressure is all on the poll and not on the nose (I sound like a salesman!) so there is no restriction on the horse's breathing.

Dr Cooks Bitless Bridle Was my bestbuy ever for my pony he is a 13.2 chesnut recentley cut gelding conemara/suffolk punch mix!! he was a handfull but he is now 14 and in january was told by the vet to use a bitless bridle as his teeth had been worn from continuos chewing on the bit. he was never brokenm till he was 8 and has never been a school master till this year!!
the bridle has completely changed our lives i have hunted him in it!!!! before id have hunted him bottom ring pelham he was so strong but he seems calmer in the dr cook. He has been jumping cross country and showjumping and has been scoring high in dressage. the first time i rode him in it he went into an outline and he had never done it before! amazing results i now ride my exmoor pony and my 17.3 in bitless bridles and they are fantastic -on my yard theres no need for the bit!!
