Hi all,

My pony is currently in a bitless bridle which he loves working in. (he's 7) Trouble is, I'm wanting to do some showing this summer and he's never had a bit in his mouth. I've heard of judges marking you down for being in a bitless so thought I should be the same as everyone else. I was thinking of putting him in a normal snaffle for just showing. Does anyone have any idea's to get him to accept the bit or any advice? Thank you :)

Use the bridoon sliphead (I think that is what it is called) to use the bit, if possible, with your bitless bridle. It will mean using two sets of reins but, then you can introduce the use of bit gradually. I use a bit with my bitless this way. I ride mainly bitless with the bit reins slightly slack. But I know they are there for the few times I have needed them.
