Is it alright when showing a horse in a double bridle to use a hanging cheek snaffle as the bridoon bit? As my horse goes best in his hanging cheek so then I could work him mainly off this and just have the weymouth there 'for show' mainly. Or would it be more correct to use a normal loose ring or eggbut bridoon? Or would it be alright just to show him in the snaffle? It is for a riding horse class at a local show, he goes very nicely in the snaffle but i don't want to be marked down because he hasn't got a double in (although would I be marked down if he did wear a double?) Also would it be alright to use a happymouth 'bridoon' with a metal weymouth? Is it possible to get happymouth weymouths? Dilemmas!

You can just use a snaffle, ff he goes well in it there is no need to change it.
I have seen hanging cheeks used with weymouths but only in dressage not showing, so not sure if they are allowed.
Not sure if you can get happymouth bridoons but you can get latex bandages that you can wrap around a bit to make them softer.
