I have our 12.2 pony in an eggbutt snaffle at the moment and he is fine with it but does not seem to play with it much. I would like a bit that is as kind to him as the snaffle but that he would like more. It would also be great if it would assist my 9 year old to get him to go on the bit when being ridden. He does go on the bit but she has to ask him quite strongly and keep on asking him all of the time.
Does anyone have any ideas of what sort of bit I might try as there are so many on the maket now and not many seem to give a explination of what they are best used for.

Only my opinion but I do see single jointed snaffles as the work of the devil

Have you considered something with a double joint or lozenge that might be slightly more comfortable for the pony? If you are currently using a straight bar this would also allow a little more sublety in the aids

Also a copper bit would help with comfort. Neue Schule have just bought out a pony range!
