Does anyone know if you can get a cherry roller bit with a double jointed link as opposed to the single 'nutcracker' one?

Also, has anyone used the Sweet Iron Tom Thumb Scrob Board bit (pic was posted by someone who was thinking of getting one off ebay? like a small version of american gag with rollers in middle sorta thing

) or the Sweet Iron Tom Thumb Scrob Board Snaffle?

Am going to get one of these (and the cherry roller if can get a double jointed one!!) but didn't know which. Was thinking the first as Rosie is quite strong. Ideas anyone?

Thank you

Hiya, yes you can get a double jointed cherry roller, but i personally hate them as a bit cos theyre too chunky and make a horse fussy in the mouth. The tom Thumb bit, on the other hand is really useful, been using one on my boy and he goes beautifully in it! It is reversable too, so you can use it as smooth of ridged (as shown by lady in bitworld)!

Go to Bitworld.co.uk and get in contact with them, they are lovely, very helpful and offer a hire service too!!

Hope that helps!!

Yeah, we have several horses who go well in the sweet iron. The snaffle's really good, really seems to make them soft in the mouth and responsive. Also have a couple that go well xc in the tom thumb.
Personally I'd choose that over the cherry roller.

Yes!! I brought both of these when i had an exracer a few years ago and they were fantastic!!! Used the loose ring snaffle one for most things and switched to the "tom thumb" (gag one) with roundings (2 reins for pc as my intructor liked things done properly although i found 2 reins needed far to much cooridination!) when we were likey to be cantering in company and for rallies etc otherwise he took off flat out and bucked till i ended up on the floor! He was an absolute dream to ride in these though - very soft in the mouth and through topline, pulled up easily and loved the copper roller and sweet iron combination as he was quite fussy in his mouth.

PM me if you want any more info.

Talking of Tom Thumbs, I have just bought the sweet iron, copper mix scrob for a fussy mouthed ex-racer/jumper and was wondering what would be the best way to introduce this? One rein on the top ring or two reins or one rein with roundings?

I also like to use a Market Harborough or Harbridge, do you think this would still be ok to use through the top ring or do I have to go back to a running martingale? Hopefully not as I've been working hard to rectify a badly ewed neck!
