I am going to start familiarizing Twirly with a bit and bridle, there are so many bits on the market I don't know which to start with.
I want the best start so your opinions are much appriciated so that i can make a more informed choice thanks

I start all mine off with a straight bar rubber snaffle, dipped in sugar beet water! They have this on for the first few months while they get used to things, and I start off long reining in this.

I then move on to sweet iron loose ring snaffles, and I particularly like the Tom Thumb mouth piece on a loose ring snaffle - gives youngsters something to play with and a nice taste from the copper rings and sweet iron. My old boy is in a Tom Thumb, and it's worked wonders, so I now have everything else in a loose ring snaffle with the same mouth piece.

I started my appaloosa x arab in a little fixed ring french link. I like this because the rings wont pinch and i didnt want the nutcracker action to begin with. He really seemed to get on well with this.
