Bitten by dog today - anything i can do??

i know its actually not a great piece of legislation, but that is why there is a Dangerous Dogs Act and not a Dangerous Horse Act;). Its also why the newspapers are frequently filled with horror stories of people/children who have been mauled by dogs, because its illegal.

What a nightmare! Im glad the police have taken it seriously!

I was attacked a few months ago whilst riding my horse. Went past a house with a rottie asleep in the garden. Within a matter of seconds it was up and charging at me! Gate was open so me and the horse didnt stand a chance. The dog was jumping up at the horse and trying to grab at my leg (that i was kicking at it with!!!). JUST backed baby horse was very upset but thankfully both of us got away injury free.

Reported it to the police and dog warden. The next day the dog was chained up in the garden behind a reinforced, CLOSED gate.
 
I am so glad the police are taking this serious, it sounds like a seriously dangerous dog. I hope you or the dog warden manage to track the woman down.

Sorry to hear you are in pain! It must have been a really proper bite - poor you!
 
OMG that is just horrific! When I saw that you had a bite I thought maybe just a nip/red marks or whatever but BLOOD?? I am disgusted that the woman just walked away but not surprised, she probably thought that she'd best clear off before the police came so she didn't get locked up. That dog would be better off with a different owner or PTS, what is she thinking having him off the lead in public with no recall???? Awful.

I'm so glad you're ok, it could have been much worse. I imagine it hasn't done much for your love of GSDs.... :(
 
That sounds like an absolute nightmare. You have my complete sympathy, and I think you could potentially be very lucky the dogs teeth weren't a few cms closer to your throat.

I was bitten for no reason whilst standing at a pedestrian crossing, the dog suddently lunged at me and got my lower arm. It just broke the skin and I wasn't in any pain BUT I was in a stateof complete shock. The woman said sorry and ran off. I was so shocked I just stood and shook, then carried on walking in no fit state to do anything about it.

Your incident was way worse, but I do think that you don't know how you will react till you have something like that happen and chasing the owner or having any kind of rational reaction is pretty impossible.
