So have made the decision to take my horse hunting. Bit different from dressage thats for sure.

Anyways, was wondering if anyone could recommend a bit that I could use, as Im sure my Neu Schule with a lozenge will not be enough.

I find that straight bar bits he pulls on me, Other then that, I have no idea what I should do. A friend asked if he puts his head up or down when I brake. But he doesnt do either of them, as I have never had this issue before.

He is 4years old and was broken just before christmas, Ive had him since april.

I would not change it unless you know his going to be a problem. It's tricky but if his happy in it and his safe out hacking in it then - if it ain't broke don't change it.
Until your out hunting your not going to know how he will be and changing the bit to something he may not like might not to you any favours. Trial and error.

So not really helpful. Sorry. However maybe look at Dr Bristol or Dutch Gag with a lozenge (that way if his naughty/strong you can jump of and drop the rein down).

I think I have a dutch gag as well.

Ahhhh so not always best to change his bit anyways.

I like the idea of the dutch gag and being able to move the reins down. So yeah will do that. :)

Ride in the bit before the day just so you know his fine in it.

Does he hack out fine? Does he mind going at the back? If you canter can you pull his up? Does he get excited if he sees horses ahead?
Have a think about the above questions and what his like in general. I find my horse gets excited but he doesnt get strong so bit doesn't matter. But if your horse bolts off with you then a stronger bit will help.

Have fun

He's very sensible when hacking in company, and he's not very strong, just a bit pully sometimes (although I think the lozenge stops this).

I have someone that has full control that is going to ride along side me. :) So im not left alone.

EEK! What am I doing? lol.
