Help,

Mare mare has recently discovered how to stick her tongue out whilst being ridden (not continually but enough) Can anyone advise a bit to curb this new habit. She's normally ridden in a eggbutt snaffle.

Thanks :-)

You need a very curved mouthpeice to take the pressure off the tongue. Also change to a more ergonomic mouthpeice. The NS verbindend or team up bits are ideal.

Tongue pokers are generally trying to avoid pressure on the tongue.

Good Luck

My mare is the same. I now use the NS team up and she is 90% better. If she is a bit anxious she will still stick it out. I have spent a fortune on bits over the years trying to see which works best - actually the bitless was best

but not suitable for dressage which is what I am trying to do

So far this NS bit is the best bit I have ever used on her and she is light and happy in it.

Another vote for a verbindend - not from an ex tongue poker, but from an ex mouth opener.

Just a different mouth evasion...Brilliant piece of kit.

My horse used to try to get his tounge over the bit. I use a NS Salox with small rings (because he has a small mouth) it is fantastic.
