i've a really gobby TB (with a large tongue) who only ever seems to relax in his Myler Combination Bit or Myler Low Port Comfort Snaffle, neither of which I can turn up for a dressage test in (about time BD updated their list of legal bits to inc some more Mylers). Someone suggested I try a Neue Schule Verbinden but I'm struggling to get hold of one. Has anyone out there tried this bit or can anyone offer any other suggestions?

Hi my horse is the same and Ive tried probably every bit going including the verbinden. To be honest nothing has helped. I find the best bit is the NS baucher or I suppose any hanging cheek would be the same. The bit is held off the tongue and still in the mouth. My horse opens and closes his mouth constantly and draws his tongue back, it makes him trance like at times and seems to passify him I suppose like a baby sucking its thumb. I do sometimes use a drop noseband and will at comps but it doesnt stop him.
I am at the moment using a single jointed fulmer which he seems to like, this too is high in his mouth and still. I was suprised though as he hated single jointed bits.
If you find a cure please let me know!

What about one of the myler dressage legal ones. I know they dont have a port but neither do the others and if he works wellin that make might be worth a try? im haveing simmilar problems why cant i do dressage in a hackamore!!!???

Yeah I'm going to try the legal Myler hanging cheeck and the Neue Schule Verbinden (thanks to the helpful people at the tackshop.co.uk, and their bit lending service)
