Right I need some bitting help

Rose is great in one of these for schooling and out walk and when she doesnt feel like being silly trotting as well.

But I would want something a bit stronger so I am not pulling on her mouth so much when she decided ignore me.

I tried her back in her lozenge dutch gag on second hole the other day for a hack and although she listens she just throws her head up in evasion.
Although felt happy enough to have a little canter and was slow enough which was good, cause lately all she wants to do is bolt of at extreme speeds, and has started to actually feel like I have no control, which normally isn't the case as I know I pull but have always felt that I could stop at some point.

I was thinking about trying a neue shcule verbindend as I think this would suit her mouth better and hopefully she takes to it. But would it give me the brakes I need?

Need something to be able to give me some brakes without me hauling on her mouth for jumping, fast hack work and xc. (not asking for much )

I think the advice will be to go back to schooling her in a snaffle type bit. Once the compliance is there through schooling then this should translate into your faster work out hacking.

You can, of course, school out hacking. My mare came to me in a Waterford, we are now working in a loose ring french link. Out hacking I have started to try to school with lots of transitions and reward as soon as she comes back to me - that sort of thing. This is new to us but the difference is noticeable already. It seems the key is consistency and when I am feeling lazy it has a real effect on her. I need to be more aware of her all the time rather than being lazy and allowing her to drag me on for another 8 strides before she gives me the downward transistion I want...

I would imagine it will be a nano second before someone says 'back, tack and teeth' too so thought I owuld come back and edit it in!

She was in the gag all the time at one point but through schooling is now happy in a snaffle and is fine in the school with all transitions.
I just think it could be that she is excited bout cantering outdoors but that's no excuse and she needs to listen. I do end up having to be 'extreme' with her to get her to listen and slow and I don't want to have to do that to her mouth.
Haven't got anywhere flat to school out on a hack but suppose could try lots of transitions. Its just the canter...

Back, tack and teeth are all fine as have had all out quite recently.

Have you tried two reins on the dutch gag? One on the snaffle ring & one on the bottom? Means you are in effect hacking in a snaffle but have the extra when needed.

I dont think that will help as she still evades the gag weather on second ring or not. (plus i cant get a grip with 2 reins :P) I have tried a mullen mouth pelham with 2 reins which she didnt agree with and got a bit panicked by it.

Im going to get a Neue schule verbindend anyways for schooling as i think it will fit her mouth better but still need something to hack with.

I have 2 NS verbibdend bits. The loose ring for schooling and hacking on my own etc and the universal for jumping, XC and hunting. He seems to prefer it to happy mouth dutch gag which I used to use.
