Hi all, I'm just looking for some advice on bits for my warmblood gelding for when I am jumping. When I school him I use a loose ring Waterford snaffle and have been using a Waterford gag on the second ring with a flash and martingale when jumping. Recently he has started to rush into jumps and I cant hold him or stop him but, other than this he is good a gold to school, lunge etc. He isn't liking the gag to much because when he's not rushing into jumps he throws his head around. I was just wondering if anyone ha any good ideas on what bits I could try him in to still have some control into jumps but doesn't have to much poll pressure to stop him throwing his head around. Also in his previous home he was ridden in a flash but also a drop noseband and sometimes had a sheepskin noseband cover to. Thanks

He is a warm blood and they tend to have quite fleshy mouths, so a thinner bit may be more comfortable for him. My horse hates a gag and the first and only time she has ever reared was when we tried her in one. I have a Myler Kimblewick which she is very happy wearing, but it allows me a little more control for when she has her silly moments out hacking or when jumping.
I also keep the noseband loose because if it is too tight it irritates her and she will throw her head around and try to scratch her head on anything within reach. Very annoying in the middle of a dressage test and she stops dead from a canter and puts her head down to scratch!

I have a warmblood gelding who is very fussy about his mouth. I use a Myler low ported MB43 (i think) the port doesn't interfere with their big fleshy tongues like other bits do. If you go on Bitbank and ask them they will help you, they also allow you to try the bit to make sure its right for your horse.
