Looking for suggestions, my 8 year old TB mare is quite mouthy and not the easiest to keep happy with bits. We have tried a Myler comfort snaffle, a Neue Schule Verbindend, a hanging cheek snaffle, loose ring french link snaffle and a wilkie.....she is happiest in a cyprium loose ring snaffle - will take a contact and goes nicely in it on the flat. However jumping and xc are a different matter! She has been known to hollow and tank or pull her head down and tank. She pulls a fair bit and it can get exhausting. We tried flash and Grakle nose bands but she hates the restriction and fights even more. Her teeth have been checked and they are fine, I genuinely think this is more excitement than anything else. Trainer suggested upping the brakes a bit. She has a small mouth and doesn't like bulk. I swithered on trying a pelham, I really don't want to overbit her though, she backed off the wilkie. So anyone have any suggestions??

No idea on what you could try, I'm about to try a myler on my 7 year old because he spends quite a lot of time trying to get his tongue over his verbindend. Will watch this thread with interest!

How was she in a myler comfort snaffle as if she was okay in it have you considered a myler combination? Same mouth piece but with the addition of the slight nose and poll pressure for the stronger horse.

I tried nearly everything on my sensitive mouthed horse, the waterford works the best so far. I use mine as a dutch gag as my horse is super strong and his brain can fly out the window :o but a simple snaffle ring may do. It looks harsh and it isn't the first thing you'd think for a sensitive horse, but as you can use less rein, mine responded very well and he is super fussy

Why not try a bit less bridle such as a Dr Cooks which is a cross under or an Or bit less which is similar to a hackamore. There is plenty of info and testimonials on their websites?
