Yes, you did read that correctly! Little SWUO is in the process of being backed(will make a post in the NL about that tomorrow) and I'm after some bitting advice/ideas from you lovely lot
At the moment she's in a D-ring eggbutt snaffle with quite a thin mouthpiece as she has a small mouth but I am not a fan of the nutcracker action and I get the impression that she's not 100% happy all of the time, although obviously I realise that she's going to play with it as it's all new to her, and she is showing signs of accepting the contact etc with it BUT I'd still like opinions as to whether to carry on using this bit, or use something else, and if so, what?
I do have a loose ring french link, but it's a chunkier mouthpiece, although I am a fan of the french link in general.
Issues we have encountered with regards control have all been with Jelly sticking her head up high and tanking off. Coral is very quiet with her hands and is grabbing onto abit of mane rather than pull if there's a problem so I don't think that SWUO tanking is due to being 'jabbed'.
Bits I've been considering include a half-cheek french link, and a loop ring(wilkie) snaffle, although that one would obviously have the nutcracker action, or a rubber mullen mouth bit.
So, over to you....ideas/advice etc greatly appreciated.
We're very proud of Jelly, and so we want this new chapter in her life to be a happy one.
Thanks guys
